"KID MONK BARONI" (1952)

Synopsis: Parish priest Rober tries to reform street punk Nimoy by teaching him how to box and involving him in church activities. Nimoy's face is disfigured (the pointed ears would come later in Star Trek) and the locals have nicknamed him "Monk". All goes well until a gang fight, Nimoy hits the priest and gets out of town. Cabot finds the young fighter and turns him into a pro. After plastic surgery, Nimoy is a new man, with an ego to match. He takes up with Knox, and she uses him until his earnings dry up. Nimoy soon flops in the ring in his efforts to protect his new face. Eventually he gives it up and returns to his old neighbourhood, becoming the church's athletic director.
