Synopsis: The peace of a small town with a forward-looking mayor spills over into mob action in this worthwhile drama about helping ex-convicts get back on their feet. Albertson and Lynn are released from prison and are promptly shunned by society until Gould, the mayor, puts them to work running a cannery that had been closed down due to lack of manpower. Other ex-cons join the venture and all goes well until a mean newspaperman whips up the town against the men. Mob action follows, and an attempt at a lynching, but all is resolved with the cannery getting a war contract, pleasing everybody.
